Egypt's new Ambassador to Togo Kareem Sherif on Tuesday delivered an invitation by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his Togolese counterpart Faure Gnassingbe to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Suez Canal, slated for August 6.
The ambassador, who presented his credentials to Gnassingbe, discussed with the Togolese president several issues of common concern.
The Togolese President asked the ambassador to convey his greetings to President Sisi and thanked him for his invitation.
He also condemned recent terror attacks in Cairo and Sinai, offering condolences to Sisi and the families of the victims.
He also affirmed his country's support for Egypt's candidacy for a non-permanent membership of the Security Council.
The meeting also dealt with the historical relations between the two countries and the need to promote them to new horizons.
