China's political advisors should provide more constructive proposals to the Party and government, senior leader Jia Qinglin said Friday. Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top political advisory body, made the comments at a meeting held to award outstanding CPPCC members who have made constructive proposals in the past five years. Jia, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, said proposals made by political advisors at all levels and accepted by government agencies had played an active role in helping resolve practical problems. Jia said that the upcoming CPC's 18th National Congress will help indicate which direction the country takes in developing its causes. Political advisors should pay more attention to the quality of their proposals and pay more attention to the handling of them in order to help construct a well-off society in an all-round way, Jia said. According to CPPCC, the 11th National Committee has received more than 28,000 proposals from its members in the past five years, and more than 26,000 of them have been handled by the Party and the government. At Friday's meeting, 281 proposals were selected as exemplary, and 46 Party and government agencies were awarded for their efficient handling of the proposals from the CPPCC members.
