Lebanese men residing in Tripoli blocked the path of three oil tanker trucks transferring diesel to Syria on Thursday evening and set them on fire, the National News Agency (NNA) reported. The NNA added that the youths hail from the area of Bab al-Tabbaneh, adding that the incident took place at Nahr Abu Ali roundabout. The protesters then set the tankers on fire, amid heavy armed presence. It is noted that violent clashes have repeatedly taken place in Tripoli between anti-Syrian regime Sunni and pro-regime Alawite groups. This factionalism reflects a split that exists within Lebanon’s political scene between pro-Syrian regime parties affiliated with the March 8 alliance , spearheaded by Hezbollah, and parties associated with the March 14 coalition, who back the rebels
