Tunisia ha stressed that it categorically rejects anything that threatens Libya's national and territorial unity, calling upon the Libyan people to preserve their country's sovereignty and the gains of February 17 Revolution. A statement released by the Tunisian foreign ministry here on Thursday, asked the Libyan people to support the National Transitional Council (NTC) and the transitional government in this critical time as the sole legitimate representatives of Libya. The foreign ministry's statement reiterated Tunisia's support for the efforts of the Libyan government to guarantee Libya's unity, stability and security. Tribal leaders, politicians and militia commanders in Libya's eastern oil-rich region of Cyrenaica have declared it a semi-autonomous state, something that NTC considered a national danger and a threat to divide the country.
