Tunisian cabinet condemns Hamas official assassination

Tunisia’s cabinet on Thursday condemned the killing of Hamas military chief Ahmad Jaabari during an Israeli airstrike on Gaza Strip yesterday. “The Israeli offensive is against human rights and international conventions,” a cabinet statement read, urging the international community to force Israel to stop its escalation against unarmed Palestinians. The Tunisian cabinet hailed the Palestinian “resistance and militancy to recover their legitimate and historical rights,” noting that the success of the Arab Spring uprisings in setting the way for freedom and democracy will help “mobilize” the international community to support and defend the Palestinian “legitimate” rights. At least 19 Palestinians have been killed and tens were injured since the Israeli forces launched its aerial attack on Gaza. A Hamas rocket on Thursday killed three Israelis in the city of Kiryat Malachi, and another two landed south of Tel Aviv, causing no injuries.
