Turkey bans protests in Sanliurfa province

Turkish authorities on Tuesday placed a ban on staging demonstrations in Sanliurfa province in southeastern Turkey where a deadly attack occurred in a town bordering Syria on Monday.

The ban aims to prevent "undesirable incidents," private Dogan News Agency quoted a statement by the Governorate of Sanliurfa as saying.

A total of 32 people were killed and 104 others injured in Suruc town in the suspected Islamic State (IS) suicide bombing.

The attack hit the garden of a municipal cultural center while Hundreds of young people were holding a conference to discuss plans to help rebuild the Syrian town of Ayn al-Arab, also known as Kobane.

Predominantly Kurdish Kobane was under attack of IS militants in early 2015.

Meanwhile, two police officers were injured late Monday while dispersing a rally staged by a group in Sariyer district of Istanbul province to denounce the attack.
