Turkey has condemned the killing of a senior Iraqi Turkmen soldier in Kirkuk recently. The spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday said that Turkey deeply condemned the attack waged in Kirkuk on September 4, killing Major General Adnan Abdurrezzak and his two bodyguards. "We strongly condemn this heinous terrorist act aiming at destroying the already fragile atmosphere of trust in Kirkuk and causing an ethnical clash. We expect the perpetrators to be caught and brought to justice as soon as possible," Spokesperson Selcuk Unal said in his statement. Unal also said that Turkey hoped for a peaceful environment in every corner of Iraq, including Kirkuk, which constituted an essential part of the country thanks to its pluralistic structure. Turkey expects Iraqi leaders to take immediate measures that would ease the ongoing political tension in Iraq and halt terrorist acts targeting all Iraqi people, the spokesperson added.
