
Turkey's EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis on Monday hosted a fast breaking meal in Ankara. Bagis hosted a fast breaking meal for the Turkish Parliament's EU and Foreign Affairs Committees, Ambassadors in Ankara, representatives of EU permanent contact points, representatives of media companies in Ankara, diplomatic correspondents, members of different religions and staff of Turkish Accreditation Agency and Turkish National Agency in Cer Modern in Turkish capital city of Ankara. By reminding a Martin Luther King Jr. quote, "We have learned to fly the air like birds and swim the sea like fish, but we have not yet learned the simple art of living together as brothers," Bagis said, "Ramadan reminds us how to live together as brothers". Implying that he is not going to change his position in the party, Bagis said that they got elected for a position for some period of time and they did not know whether they continue with their duties or not. "This can be my last iftar with you all as EU minister." In response to a question about what he said in his speech regarding if he is leaving his post, Bagis said, "l made speeches like this before. It does not mean l am going to leave my post". As a response to a question which reminded the upcoming local elections and if he is going to be a candidate for the position of Istanbul Mayor or not, Bagis said "l try my best for the position wherever and whichever my party will assign to me."
