Turkish Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Sahin on Thursday received the Yemeni Nobel Peace laureate Tawakkul Karman and an accompanying delegation in the Turkish capital of Ankara. Speaking while receiving the Yemeni delegation, Fatma Sahin said she was pleased to host Karman and her delegation. "Karman played a great role in the struggle for human rights," Sahin underlined. It was the women and young individuals who became the main actors of the changes taking place in the Middle East in recent times, Sahin stated. Touching on Syria, Sahin said that Turkey attached high importance to seeing the management of Syrian resources by the Syrian people in a democratic setting. Karman, in her part, said that she was very pleased to be visiting Fatma Sahin whom she looked at as a sister. "I am also a Turkish citizen. I am very happy to see the value and importance attached to women in Turkey," Karman also said. Sahin's meeting with Karman later continued behind closed doors.
