The Turkish-French Parliamentary Friendship Group has resumed its activities. AK Party's Sanliurfa MP Mehmet Kasim Gulpinar was re-elected the co-chairman of the friendship group. Nine MPs including five from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), two from Republican People's Party (CHP) and one each from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) work in the friendship group. The number of friendship groups in the Turkish parliament has increased to 122 with the re-activation of the Turkish-French Parliamentary Friendship Group. The Turkish-French Parliamentary Friendship Group was suspended on December 22, 2011 following the acceptance of the bill penalizing the denial of the Armenian allegations about Ottoman era incidents in 1915 with a prison term which was later on objected by the French Senate commission of laws.
