Turkish opposition doubts solution process success

Turkey’s main opposition party leader said Tuesday that he was doubtful that a solution to Turkey's decades-long conflict with Kurdish separatists was forthcoming.
Leader of the Republican People's Party, or CHP, Kemal Kilicdaroglu’s statement come after Turkish Deputy PM Bulent Arinc said Monday that not all deputies from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democracy Party, or HDP, were sincere in their wishes for the success of the “solution process.”
“With this kind of understanding, I do not believe that peace will be brought to this country,” said Kilicdaroglu in Ankara.
The “solution process” officially began in 2013 in an effort to bring an end to the decades-old conflict with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, which is listed by Turkey, U.S. and the European Union as a terrorist organization.
After a meeting last Friday between HDP lawmakers and government officials at the Prime Ministry office in Istanbul, Deputy PM Akdogan stated that Turkey was determined to conclude the solution process with full support of the Turkish people.
Kilicdaroglu commented on Akdogan’s call on full support of the Turkish people, saying that no one was against the solution process.
Kilicdaroglu also alleged that the PKK would not lay down their weapons.
