Turkish PM confirms attacking kurdish democratic Union Forces in Syria

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu said that his country's military jets fired twice at forces belonging to the Kurdish Democratic Union party (PYD) in Syria.

Davutoglu told a TV television late Monday that they will not leave the fate of the Turkish border in the hands of any other country, adding "We said the PYD will not go west of the Euphrates and that we would hit it the moment it did. We hit it twice." He emphasized that Turkey will not allow the violation of its borders, noting that Turkey shot down a Syrian helicopter last year and hit a drone penetrated Turkish airspace.

Davutoglu also stressed that a solution to the Syrian crisis cannot be reached in isolation from Turkey, pointing out to the role played by his country to resolve the Syrian crisis through the meetings of Turkish Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioglu in Vienna with Russian, US and Saudi counterparts.

Sinirlioglu is currently in Paris to meet with foreign ministers of nine countries to talk about the Syrian crisis. On Friday he is scheduled to meet with Saudi, Russian and Iranian counterparts.
