A member of the Kurdistan Workers'' Party (PKK) who was allegedly planning to stage a suicide bombing attack was captured in Izmir on Wednesday, the Cihan news agency has reported. Acting on a tip-off that 17-year-old B.G. was planning to stage a suicide bombing in the city, counterterrorism units from the Izmir Police Department began following the would-be bomber. Police detained B.G., the alleged head of the Aegean branch of the Kurdish Communities Union (KCK), in the city''s Bornova district and found bombs in his backpack. Police are now investigating where he was planning to detonate the explosives, Cihan reported. The suspect was taken to the ?zmir Police Department for questioning.
