Turkish security forces on Wednesday seized over 20 tons of cartridges in the northwestern province of Kocaeli, local media Today's Zaman reported. Turkey's anti-smuggling units raided a truck in the Kartepe district of Kocaeli and found 20,500 kg of tank and mortar shell casings as well as automatic rifle bullet casings, the Kocaeli governor's office said in a statement. The truck, also loaded with some copper metals, was believed to have come from Syria, added the statement. Five suspects involved in the case were detained by the police and an investigation is underway.
