At least seven civilians were injured Tuesday morning in two successive blasts in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital of southern Afghan province of Helmand. Afghan Pajhwok news agency quoted police spokesman, Farid Ahmad saying that two explosives-laden motorised tri-cycle exploded when a convoy of security personnel was passing the area, adding that security personnel suffered no casualties, but seven civilians were wounded. On the other hand Afghan and coalition forces today confirmed the death of Haqqani leader Shabeer following a precision airstrike in Logar province, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement. Shabeer was believed to have been coordinating a high-profile attack using vehicle-borne explosive devices and had spent the days prior to his death acquiring explosives, weapons and insurgents for the planned attack, the statement added.
