
UK today welcomed the formation of a new government in Lebanon. The UK Foreign Secretary William Hague said:''I welcome the announcement of Lebanon's new inclusive government and congratulate new Prime Minister Tamam Salam and all others who have worked so hard to achieve this''. Ina statement, Mr. Hague added:'' The UK looks forward to working with Prime Minister Salam and his new government as they seek to address the major challenges and opportunities now facing the country. These include the timely holding of Presidential elections; ensuring security and combating terrorism; helping the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees which Lebanon is generously hosting; and maintaining Lebanon's neutrality in relation to the Syria conflict. '' We will continue to provide our full support to the Lebanese authorities in pursuit of peace and prosperity for Lebanon and the region.'' WAM/tfaham
