The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said Friday Kiev wanted to see stability restored in a single, indivisible and territorially integrated Libya. "Ukraine hopes to strengthen the political transition process, whose ultimate goal should be in the creation of a new, prosperous and democratic Libyan state," the ministry said in a statement on its website. It said it was important the Libyan ruling National Transitional Council strictly followed the principles of democracy and the rule of law and avoided revenge on those Libyans who supported the former regime. Ukraine expected its traditionally friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Libya would continue, the statement said. The statement was issued one day after Libya's fallen leader Muammar Gaddafi died of wounds on Thursday after his capture in Sirte as NTC fighters claimed control of Gaddafi's hometown.
