UN chief, Chinese FM discuss Syrian crisis

The UN said on Thursday that Secretary General Ban Ki-moon met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Montreux, Switzerland to discuss the Syrian conflict.The two sides stressed the importance of reaching a political solution to end the Syrian crisis, and agreed on increasing the amount of humanitarian aid sent to the Syrians, said the UN in a statement. It added that the meeting also discussed the situation in north east Asia.The Secretary General praised China's role in supporting and aiding the Syrians, and its efforts to destroy the chemical weapons of Syria.
