UN chief condemns Somalia attack

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned Friday the attack on the seat of the Somali government in Mogadishu."The Secretary-General condemns in the strongest terms the attack today on Villa Somalia, the seat of the Somali government in Mogadishu," read a statement by the United Nations."He expresses his condolences to the families of those killed and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured. He pays tribute to the Somali National Forces and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) for their efficient and professional response in repelling the attackers."He also voiced concern over the attacks as clearly aim at destabilizing the fragile country. "The Secretary-General is concerned that the recent attacks perpetrated by Al Shabaab insurgents in Somalia are clearly aimed at destabilising the country at a time when many efforts are being mobilized to restore peace and development," the statement said."He calls on the Somali people and government to remain resolute in the fight against extremism. He reiterates the United Nations' unwavering support for their determined efforts to build a peaceful and stable Somalia," the statement added.
