Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday "condemned in the strongest terms" the bomb attacks in Baghdad, Iraq. According to a statement released from the UN News Centre, UN SG Ban was informed about the incidents by Martin Kobler, the Secretary-General's Special Representative and head of theUN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). In their meeting, Kobler informed Ban about the recent developments in Iraq and the postponements in several Iraqi regions for upcoming governorate council elections. UN Secretary-General Ban condemned the attacks and the statement according to his spokesperson said that Ban expressed unequivocal support for Kobler's efforts to resolve the situation of the camp residents, and urged other parties to play a constructive role in contributing to those efforts. On Tuesday morning attacks were staged with parked car bombs in districts of Baghdad; Al Jadidah, Mesthal, Zafaraniyyah, Kazimiyyah and district of Babil; Al Askandariyah, killing at least 50 people.
