The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) strongly condemned the serious military escalation in Al Aziziya and Wershfana regions, west of Tripoli.
In its statement on Saturday, the UNSMIL voiced its concerns over the suffering of the Wershfana's residents, as many of them were subject to displacement, kidnapping and torture in addition to their dire need for humanitarian aid.
It urged all warring parties to take necessary measures to guarantee the return of all displaced people and not to arrest or prosecute any resident illegally.
It also called for an immediate halt for all the hostile acts in Wershfana and agreeing on arrangements for disengagement between conflicting forces in the region as a first step for taking suitable security measures ensuring that people could resume their daily life.
