UN spokesman Ahmad Fawzi said that UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura will finalize a list of participants in the planned Syrian negotiations, slated for January 25, on Sunday.
In a press conference on Friday, Fawzi said De Mistura will meet accredited journalists at the UN premises to announce all preparations for the negotiations.
The Security Council had endorsed an ambitious 18-month plan to end Syria's nearly five-year conflict, which has killed more than 260,000 people and forced more than 4 million others to flee the country, with a negotiated political solution seen as essential to ending the violence.
