
United Nations' envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura left here on Thursday en route to Istanbul after visiting Syria and meeting with Syrian officials including President Bashar al Assad.
Syrian officials approved de Mistura proposals concerning halting clashes in Aleppo, As-Safir Newspaper reported.
The bid aims to guarantee Aleppo's residents safety, a source said, adding that there is a timeline to implement the plan that aims to stop clashes in Aleppo.
The meetings did not tackle Syrian army's role in Aleppo's surroundings, As-Safir Newspaper further said.
De Mistura is expected to inform United Nations Security Council with the meeting's outcome on February 17.
