UN General Assembly president wraps up Morocco visit

HE President of the UN General Assembly Nasser Abdulaziz al-Naser has concluded a three-day official visit to Morocco at the invitation of the Moroccan government. During his visit, HE al-Naser held talks with Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Saad-Eddine El Othmani, President of the Assembly of Representatives of Morocco Karim Ghellab and President of the Assembly of Councillors Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah. HE al-Naser also attended a luncheon banquet held on his honor by the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. The banquet was attended by ministers and high-ranking officials at the Foreign Ministry. HE al-Naser's talks covered the important stage currently experienced by Morocco after the economic, political and social reforms, especially after the adoption of the new constitution which enhanced the role of the parliament and led to the independence of the judiciary. The talks also addressed the most important issues of common interest and the developments in Syria. HE al-Naser praised Morocoo's role in the Security Council. During a lecture delivered in Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies in presence of an elite of intellectuals, politicians, Arab ambassadors and media, HE the President of the UN General Assembly highlighted Morocco's effective role in promoting the South-South cooperation, which benefits the developing and developed countries alike. HE al-Naser told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that he also reviewed the pillars he had chosen, which topped the agenda of the General Assembly 66th session and focused on mediation to resolve disputes by peaceful means, explaining his vision of the close relationship between mediation and the Alliance of Civilizations to serve world peace.
