Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu said Tuesday Turkey had made repeated calls to the United Nations (UN), World Heath Organization (WTO) and other international actors to help handling Syrian refugee inflow to neighboring countries. Speaking at the 66th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, Muezzinoglu said within the framework of UN Millennium Development Goals, the goals of healthy drinking water and sanitation had yet to achieved. Muezzinoglu stated that maternal and infant mortality rates have not been adequately decreased. "It should not be forgotten that the the real victims of insufficient health care are the poor who cannot access to hospitals," said Muezzinoglu. "What we did in Turkey in the last ten years was exactly to help those who cannot access hospitals and health organizations," Muezzinoglu also said.
