A joint Lebanese Army-UNIFIL force removed an Israeli trench dug more than a month ago at the eastern end of the Bastra-Shebaa farm, 200 meters inside Lebanese territory, the Army said in a statement. UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army cooperated to end the violation, using a bulldozer to fill the Israeli trench – twelve meters long and four meters wide – with earth, the statement said. The Lebanese Army had filed a complaint with UNIFIL against the Israelis and requested the removal of the trench. It added that the decision to remove the trench came after a team of Lebanese and UNIFIL technicians inspected the area and confirmed that the trench fell 200 meters within the portion of Shebaa Farms under Lebanon’s control.
