UNSC condemns beheading of Egyptians by Daesh in Libya

Members of the UN Security Council have strongly condemned what they called "the heinous and cowardly apparent murder" of 21 Egyptian Christians by Daesh in Libya.
Egypt's permanent envoy to the UN Amr Abu Atta said a coordinated strongly-worded statement was issued by the UNSC about the heinous murder.
"This crime once again demonstrates the brutality of [Daesh], which is responsible for thousands of crimes and abuses against people from all faiths, ethnicities and nationalities, and without regard to any basic value of humanity," the statement said.
The Security Council also urged world countries to cooperate with Egypt and the legitimate Libyan government to bring to justice perpetrators of such heinous acts, which constitute a threat to international peace and security under the UN Charter.
