UNSC strongly condemns terrorist attack in Russian train station

The Security Council on Sunday "condemned in the strongest terms" the terrorist attack that occurred at the central train station of Volgograd, Russia, earlier today, causing numerous deaths and injuries. In a statement to the press, Council President, France, said The Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed. He added that the Council reiterated their determination to combat all forms of terrorism, underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of this "reprehensible" act of terrorism to justice, and urged all States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in this regard.
