The largest US military base in Eastern Afghanistan came under a rocket attack.Militants launched a rocket attack on Afghanistan's Jalalabad Airport, which hosts the largest US airbase in the country's East, press tv reported.Three rockets were fired into the base, destroying a civilian plane with no one on board. The US military in the capital, Kabul, confirmed the attack in a statement, but there are still no reports of possible casualties. No group has yet claimed the responsibility for the attack although similar incidents are usually blamed on the Taliban militants.Jalalabad is a regular target of attacks by the militants in Afghanistan. In March, eight policemen were killed in an attack when US Secretary of State John Kerry was on his first visit to the country. The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 as part of the so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but years into the invasion, insecurity continues to rise across the country.
