The United States on Tuesday condemned the attack on dozens of civilians by militant group Boko Haram in northeast Nigeria, calling them "vicious" and urging citizens "to support their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice." According to authorities in the state of Borno, at least 45 people were killed and 26 others injured on Sunday when gunmen opened fire in a village market and then started torching homes."We support Nigerian authorities as they begin to investigate these attacks, " said State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki in a statement. "The United States remains committed to supporting the people of northern Nigeria in their struggle against violent extremism and to helping the Government of Nigeria as it works to counter the threat posed by Boko Haram and associated groups," she added.
