The US State Department denied contacts with Ahrar Al Sham organization, belonging to the Syrian armed opposition.
Washington is concerned about Ahrar Al Sham's relationships with a number of extremist groups, Sawa Radio quoted State Department Spokesman John Kirby as saying on Friday at a news conference.
Within this context, Kirby added that the Geneva process should be respected through a political solution and a peaceful transition of power in Syria.
The US stance rejects Syrian President Bashar Al Assad and his regime, he said.
More than 250,000 people have been killed since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, according to UN estimates.
