The US Embassy in Cairo condemned Thursday terrorist attacks in North Sinai that killed and wounded a number of soldiers and civilians.
The US strongly supports Egypt as it combats terrorism in Sinai and throughout the country and sends its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims, the embassy said in a statement.
Such attacks are unacceptable, the statement noted, pointing out to remarks made by US State Secretary John Kerry on his recent visit to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, in which he said that such atrocities “cannot be rationalized, they cannot be excused, they must be opposed, and they must be stopped.”
"We value our decades-long strategic partnership with Egypt and are working to achieve our joint objectives, including to counter terrorism," the statement quoted Kerry as saying.
