US Special Operations Central Command (SOCCENT) Commander Major General Kenneth Tovo on Tuesday met Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) Commander General Jean Kahwaji with US ambassador Maura Connelly and the military delegation. The senior officials discussed areas of continued military cooperation between the two countries, including SOCCENT’s help in training and equipping the LAF's special forces. Tovo also underscored SOCCENT’s support for Lebanon’s initiatives to implement its obligations under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. Meanwhile, Kahwaji met with UNIFIL Commander Maj.-Gen. Paolo Serraand and discussed the situation on the southern border.
