The US-led coalition carried out on Thursday the first airdrop operations in Nineveh province in Iraq, Al Arabiya news TV quoted high-level military sources in Iraq as saying.
One airdrop operation was carried out on Rubai'a area on the borders with Syria, while a second in the vicinity of Singar, west of Mosul.
According to the sources, a variety of military artillery, arms and fighters' units were part of the two operations.
Similar operations are planned for the near future with the aim of regaining power over Nineveh, now under the full control of Daesh elements.
Security forces are currently leading a wide-ranged military operation in Salahuddin province.
