US permits armed drones exportation

The U.S. Department of State said that the United States will for the first time allow the exportation of armed drones to its allies.
The department said that this new policy considers the sale, movement and usage abroad of military aircraft systems from U.S. origin.
The report stressed that the United States is responsible for ensuring that the sale, movement and usage of U.S. drones compatibility with its national security and foreign policy, without mentioning the countries to which such aircraft would be sold.
The Washington Post quoted a U.S. official who said that the United States had sold drones equipped with missiles to Britain and also sold unarmed drones to its NATO allies such as France and Italy.
