US respects countries' right of self-defence

US State Department Jen Psaki stressed that Washington respects countries' right to defend themselves and their territories.
"We certainly don’t confirm military action on behalf of other countries. We certainly respect the right of countries to make their own decisions about their own self-defense and defense of their own country, she said at the daily press briefing as she was commenting on Egyptian air raids against Daesh following the beheading of 21 Egyptian Copts in Libya.
"We continue to believe that in Libya the best path forward is a political process, one that’s being led by the UN. And as you know, that is the process that is trying to work through the disagreements between different parties and entities on the ground. But I think, broadly speaking, without confirming any action, obviously threats from ISIL or countries’ desires to defend themselves is different than that," she added.
