U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday called an alleged plot to kill Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States a "dangerous escalation". "This plot, very fortunately disrupted by the excellent work of our law enforcement and intelligence professionals, was a flagrant violation of international and U.S. law, and a dangerous escalation," Clinton said during a conference in Washington. Clinton urged the rest of the world to join Washington in condemning the alleged scheme, which she said violated U.S. and international law as well as Iran's treaty obligations to protect diplomats. She said the plot was a "reckless act" that "undermines international norms and the international system."
