US Senator John McCain described the Russian election-related hacking as an "act of war". The republican Senator declared his accusation saying "when you try to destroy the principles of democracy, you are destroying our nation." McCain stressed that there are various degrees of war acts, and although the Russian's attack wasn't a nuclear one it is however an attack on the foundation of United States principles and when that happens, it is indeed an act of war.
Meanwhile, the president-elect Donald Trump expressed on Wednesday his suspicions of the Central Intelligence Agency accusations regarding the Russian election-related hacking.
The CIA accused Moscow of interfering in the United States elections through a cyber attack by groups and individuals affiliated with the democratic party.
As for sanctions, the Obama's administration imposed sanctions on two Russian Intelligent agencies and expelled 35 Russian diplomats as they were considered members of the Russian Intelligent agency.
