US sending counter-terrorist marine unit, Pentagon

US President Barack Obama is sending an elite counter-terrorism marine unit to Libya, Pentagon sources said on Wednesday. Also on Wednesday, US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said that "this senseless violence should shock the conscience of people of all faiths around the world". The attack against the US embassy in Libya "is the work of a small group, not of the Libyan government", Clinton said. The US will work closely with Libya and "will do everything to bring those responsible to justice", she said.
