The US strongly condemned Monday the attack on the convoy of the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Osama Nujaifi, in Nineveh province. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf affirmed in a statement that Nujaifi "has been a strong partner of the United States' efforts in Iraq and we are grateful that he was unharmed in the attack. "Today's attack exemplifies the danger terrorist groups pose to all Iraqis, and the importance of Iraqi leaders from all communities working together to isolate militant groups from the broader population," she stressed. "The United States stands with the Iraqi people and will continue to work closely with Iraqi political and security leaders to combat those who commit such senseless acts," she remarked.
