"The United States strongly condemns the attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)," State Department spokesperson Heide Bronke Fulton said in a statement, calling on the Government of Lebanon to conduct a full investigation into the incident and ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice." The UNIFIL troops has been in Lebanon since1978. Their mission was expanded and enhanced in 2006 following a 33-day war between Hezbollah and Israel, killing about 1200 Lebanese and 160 Israelis.
