The US reiterated Tuesday commitment to supporting the Iraqi government's efforts for stability and prosperity for its people. Deputy spokesman of the State Department Patrick Ventrell told reporters "the United States remains deeply committed to supporting the government in Iraq's efforts to bring greater stability and prosperity to its people." He added "our engagement in Iraq remains focused on supporting Iraq's constitutional system and strengthening institutions." He affirmed that the US supported "the rights of those to protest and make their voices heard. We're also working with them on their institutions." Meanwhile, Ventrell stressed that there are "some concerns about some rising sectarian tensions." "We condemn that and will continue to work with our Iraqi counterparts to help them as they continue to develop their institutions," he remarked.
