US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has ordered to increase the number of US troops in Jordan. Hagel told that he authorized the deployment last week and added that in this framework 200 military experts and specialists in the field of intelligence would be sent to the base in Jordan. Hagel announced the deployment in a statement to the Senate Armed Services Committee, which convened to discuss "Situation in Syria" on Wednesday. US Defense Secretary Hagel said that they shared the vision of the international community to strengthen the Syrian Opposition and reduce the negative effects of extremism. Hagel noted also that they encouraged Russia and China to solve the crisis with diplomatic and military help and added that they worked with the international community to increase sanctions. Hagel explained that the deployment would assist the efforts to contain violence on the Syrian border, as well as set the groundwork for combating any perceived threats of chemical weapons use in Syria.
