The US embassy confirmed on Monday that Washington is committed to deliver F16 aircraft to Iraq later this summer.
Spokesman for the US Embassy Jeffrey Lurie said in a press statement that “media reports that have been circulating recently concerning the operation of aircraft and the F16 in Jordan transfer is incorrect reports.”
He said that the Iraqi government has purchased 36 aircraft F16.
“We remain committed to the transaction and the aircraft will be delivered as soon as possible.”
He said “We are working with the Iraqi government to hand over the first batch of F16 jets to Iraq this summer as scheduled.”
“The aircraft will be delivered to begin use of Balad Air Base in Iraq,” he added.
