Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) Wessam Fatouh said the US Department of Treasury has invited the union to hold a joint banking conference on April 18 in New York to be hosted by the US Federal Reserve Bank.
In statements on the fringe of UAB meeting held here on Saturday, Fatouh said the US Treasury has outlined three issues to be raised during the meeting; namely fighting the funding of terrorism by Daesh militant group, the monitoring of financial remittances as well as money laundry.
The US Treasury extended invitations to Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan to attend the meeting, said Fatouh, noting that safety and security in Sharm El Sheikh has encourage UAB to hold its annual meeting in the Red Sea resort to send a message of assurance to tourists to visit Sharm El Sheikh.
