US, UK, Canada led talks on Middle East nuclear agreement to failure

The delegations of the US, UK and Canada taking part in the 2015 Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference have led talks on the Middle East Nuclear Free Zone Agreement to failure, a well-informed source said on Friday.

The 2015 NPT Review kicked off April 27 at the United Nations headquarters in New York and wrapped up on Friday.

The 'unjustified' stance adopted by the US has cracked Washington's credibility as a supporter for the UN's 1995 resolution on the Middle East, the source said.

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states had to express disappointment that the adoption of a final document including a section on the Middle East turned out to be impossible because of the objections of three states, the source added.

Egypt, along the NAM's state members, has exerted tireless efforts to push Washington away from headlong objection, the source said.

The final agreement has gained consents from wide rang of states taking part in the conference, but the three states have unfortunately worked hard for its failure, the source made it clear.
