
The US Embassy in Khartoum called on the American citizens in Sudan to maintain a high level of vigilance and be aware of local events to bolster their personal security on and around the Sudanese public holidays of Christmas Day (December 25) and Independence Day (January 1).
"The US Embassy advises all US citizens to be particularly vigilant around locations where large crowds may gather; government facilities; and areas frequented by expatriates and foreign travelers during the upcoming holidays," the embassy said in a statement.
US citizens should expect security presence throughout the country during the holiday period. They are also reminded to be vigilant in their homes and when traveling," it added.
"Review your personal security plans; remain aware of your surroundings; and monitor local news stations for updates. Maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security," the statement concluded
