US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Stephen Seche on Friday met with Yemen’s Army Chief of Staff Ahmed al-Ashwal for talks on security and military cooperation between the two countries. Al-Ashwal, currently on a visit to Washington, hailed the US efforts to support Yemen’s unity, security and stability, state news agency Saba reported. He stressed the “shifting from conflict to dialogue” will help achieve the aspirations of Yemeni youth, pointing to the national dialogue conference, to be held on Monday. For his part, Seche reiterated the US commitment to support the Yemeni people and the country’s transitional phase, expressing wishes for “transparent and constructive climate” during the national dialogue conference.
