Washington shooter dead but may not have acted alone

Local authorities said Monday that the shooter they have been attempting to "contain" for some three hours in southeast Washington is dead. However he may not be the only shooter in the area. The U.S. Navy released a statement saying "several" people have been injured, and local media have reported that includes at least ten people. Four are confirmed dead. Four police officers have also been shot, but it is unclear whether they are among the injured or killed. A triage center has been set up in the Navy Yard area of the District, where a U.S. naval base with some 3,000 employees is situated. Helicopters have also been air lifting people to hospital. The extent of the victims' injuries is not yet known. D.C. police are expected to hold a news conference shortly.
