Egypt's Ambassador here Nazeh el Nagary
Beirut - Arab Today

Egypt's Ambassador here Nazeh el Nagary stressed the keenness of the embassy to support the Egyptian-Lebanese initiative in Africa which is sponsored by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Lebanese parliament's Speaker Nabih Berri.

The initiative will encourage businessmen of both countries to invest in the western African countries to serve the best interests of the two nations, the diplomat said.

These remarks came during the meeting held on Monday between el Nagary and board of directors of the Egyptian-Lebanese Company for Trade and Investment in Africa.

The meeting, which was attended by the commercial counselor in the embassy Mona Wahba, took up the plan of the company for the year 2017 which included sending number of joint missions to some African countries such as Côte d'Ivoire.

They discussed also opening a branch for the company in Abidjan. A meeting will be held for the board of directors in Cairo in January.

Meanwhile, Nagary met with the members of the African Continental Council under Abbas Fawaz.

The two sides tackled the participation of the council in the initiative.

The ambassador stressed the government's support to the initiative, noting that the Egyptian Foreign Ministry is ready also to render the initiative successful because it promotes Egypt's exports to Africa.

For his part, Fawaz said that he follows up the outcome of the visit of the Lebanese commercial mission to Egypt in May, adding that the mission grouped number of Lebanese businessmen working in Africa.

He underscored that the mission managed to ink number of export deals between the Egyptian factories and the Lebanese importers in Africa for some of products such as Ceramic and juices.
